THE PETE BEST BAND

The Night A Beatle Came To Town

Pete Best brought his band to play at Loco's Boneyard on Harris Street on July 30th, 2006.  It was a fun show without the sad aspect that I was sort of expecting.  I mean, c'mon, who doesn't kinda feel for Pete Best?  Even he has said that he still doesn't really know why he was dismissed from The Beatles in August 1962.  I met Mr. Best that night at Loco's and he was a nice enough guy, although he refused to say "Hi, this is Pete Best and you're listening to KPLA Radio" into my portable recorder.  His son did though!  Listen to it below, it didn't turn out very well.  What DID turn out well though, also included below, is the recording of The Pete Best Band playing their rendition of Ray Charles' "What'd I Say," a song Pete used to play back when he was still putting the beat in The Beatles.  As a side note, I'm almost certain that's me in the crowd shot (the tall dude drinking out of the blue solo cup).  Check it out!
